'It's the lobbying, PR machinery,' Emraan Hashmi opens up on him and his family Mahesh Bhatt, Mohit Suri haven't got the prestige as other film families despite good work

Emraan Hashmi can be called the ‘man of the moment’, especially after Aryan Khan’s ‘The Ba***ds Of Bollywood’. One saw how Raghav Juyal’s character was a huge fan of the actor and said, ‘Aakha Bollywood ek taraf, Emraan Hashmi ek taraf’. Many people resonated with that sentiment. Yet, somehow, Emraan has never been in the kind of limelight the way so many other actors have. In a recent interview, Emraan was asked if he feels that despite great work done by Mahesh Bhatt, or ‘Saiyaara’ director Mohit Suri and him, their family hasn’t got the kind of limelight or prestige that other film families have. When asked if he agrees to it, Emraan said during a chat with Galatta Plus, “It’s the lobbying, PR machinery. It’s going and playing the entire gamut of things. Our family has always been like, we do the work, we put the films out there and then we step back. We are insiders but we are outsiders.”

Emraan Hashmi Finally Opens Up About His Cameo In ‘The Ba***ds Of Bollywood’

He added, “People tell me ‘you’re an under-rated actor’. I feel there’s no problem in people feeling it. I very early on got to know the value of award functions so I don’t go. I don’t go to film parties. This is a thing these days, you can get publicity done if you pay shit loads of money and I don’t do that. Our family is very real. We just let our work do all the talking.”As he was pointed out that perhaps, this could also be because they all did very unconventional movies, Emraan said, “May be we are a dysfunctional family. Even Mohit and me, we started our journey together, our frequencies matched. For example, ‘Aawarapan’, it talks about so much. It’s such a different film, it talks about divine, death. Right now, is the place for these kind of films. I think today people enjoy such darker, edgier films.” Emraan was also asked if he wishes he could have done quintessential love stories like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, the ‘Murder’ actor said, “There were so many offers that came my way, wholesome romantic films but I didn’t want to go down the road that other actors went. My perception of cinema is not that so, I didn’t go to the route. I felt that this is my niche and people see me a certain way and I can be the best of what I’m doing right now. I didn’t want to do things which I saw myself doing.”
